Description

Meet Jim — Your Guide to the Real Scotland
Some people discover Scotland. Jim grew up in it.
Raised on a farm in the heart of Perthshire, Jim developed a deep connection to the Scottish landscape long before he ever thought about sharing it with others. The hills, the history, the characters — they were simply home. That sense of place never left him, and today it's the foundation of everything he does as a guide.
After a career in marketing and PR — and a stint with Toastmasters that sharpened a natural gift for storytelling — Jim found his true calling: bringing Scotland to life for visitors who want more than a bus tour. As a Blue Badge Scottish Tour Guide, he holds the highest guiding qualification in the country, and as a Scotch Whisky Ambassador, he knows his drams as well as his castles.

Jim will be the first to tell you that guiding doesn't feel like work. It's a chance to share everything he loves about Scotland — the history, the culture, the food and drink, the jaw-dropping scenery — and to do it with people who've travelled thousands of miles to experience it. He takes genuine delight in revealing the secret gems that don't make the guidebooks, alongside the iconic landmarks that absolutely should.
"It's a privilege to take people round my country," he says. "And I look forwards to making new friends along the way."

Travelling with Jim means travelling in comfort and confidence. He's a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, so you're in expert hands on Scotland's sometimes challenging roads. His spacious, comfortable vehicle means your group of up to six travels together — no splitting up, no strangers, just your party and your guide.
Jim has hosted public events, introduced dignitaries, and guided everyone from solo travellers to multigenerational families. He's a keen golfer, a passionate genealogist, and an enthusiastic photographer who knows exactly where to stop for the perfect shot.
Whatever brings you to Scotland — ancestry, scenery, Outlander, golf, or simply curiosity — Jim brings the knowledge, the stories, and the warmth to make it unforgettable.
